The Digital Dozen Does Art: Elspeth McLean’s Lotus Family of Three

Hi everyone!

It’s Day 5 of The Digital Dozen Does Art! I made it – I’m posting later than usual, but it’s still Friday! I only found an artwork that I found inspiring and that I could figure out a good nail art composition for last night, so this one ended up a little more last-minute. I really loved this theme but I’m glad it’s over for now – as the saying goes, variety is the spice of life, and I’m now ready for some simple, quick nail art 🙂Painted Fingertips | The Digital Dozen Does Art - Elspeth McLean Lotus Family of Three (more…)

The Digital Dozen Does Art: Lichtenstein-style Pop Art

Hi everyone!

It’s day 3 of the Digital Dozen does art! I’ve really enjoyed this theme so far and I loved both of the nail art looks I’ve already shared with you. In case you missed them, I recreated Munch’s The Scream and a gorgeous vibrant tree artwork by Megan Duncanson.

Today I’ve moved away from freehand art for the first time this week (don’t worry, there’s more freehand coming later in the week!) to create a pop art look. Painted Fingertips | The Digital Dozen Does Art - lichtenstein-style pop art (more…)

31DC2016 Day 11: Neon Dotticure

Hi everyone!

Today’s 31 Day Challenge theme is dots! I decided to do a neon dotticure. I wasn’t sure if this counts as freehand, since I was using a dotting tool – but then again I was using the dotting tool freehand? It’s a grey area, so I just went bright and detailed to make it count! Painted Fingertips | Neon dots for #31DC2016

#5minutenailart: Polka dots

Hi everyone!

I had a rough start to the week when I woke up Monday morning with some pretty bad abdominal pain. I ended up going to the hospital and after being examined by several doctors, having blood tests and a CT scan they confirmed it was appendicitis. If you’ve ever been in the hospital for something like this, you’ll know there is a lot of waiting involved! I was well taken care of though and I wound up in surgery late Monday night. Luckily an appendectomy is pretty much the most routine surgery there is, so I wasn’t too worried – just glad I could get better. I’m back home now and just feeling weak and tired and I can’t concentrate for long.

Fortunately, I had a bunch of posts lined up that I just had to write up – so at least I can blog! Today I have another 5 minute nail art post lined up for you. I covered it all in my first #5minutenailart post, but basically I start with a plain base colour and have just 5 minutes to turn it into art. Painted Fingertips | 5 minute nail art: polka dots

Textured Dotted Gradient

Hi everyone!

Today I have some simple but effective nail art to share with you. I’d been itching to do a dotticure, so I decided on a gradient dotticure. Of course, I needed to make it more interesting than that, so I decided to go with textured dots. I did something similar more than a year ago when I first got my hands on the Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes. Back then I combined two dot colours on each nail, this time I decided on just one dot colour per nail and here is the result:Painted Fingertips | Textured dotted gradient (more…)

Daisy nails – Inspired by a Tutorial for day 30 of the #31DC2014

Hi everyone!

It’s day 30 of the 31 Day Challenge! The second last day! Today’s theme is inspired by a tutorial. There are so many great nail art tutorials out there and I wasn’t sure where to even begin choosing one. In the end I settled on this daisy daze nail art tutorial done by Wondrously Polished. 31 Day Challenge Day 11: Polka Dots

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme for the 31 Day Challenge is polka dots. I decided to try interlocking dots. I have seen many other people doing beautiful versions of this but somehow I was not 100% happy with mine. However, it was a very eye-catching look and I liked it but just felt I didn’t get the interlocking part quite right. painted-fingertips-31dc2014-31-day-challenge-2014-polka-dots-interlocking-dots-day-11 (more…)

Stamping with MM20 over dots

Hi everyone!

Today I decided to play with my cherished Messy Mansion stamping plate, MM20. A long while ago, I saw this image being used over a dotted base (I’m not sure where) and it made me want this plate!
