It’s Digital Dozen week! This week’s theme is texture. I used to be a huge fan of textured polish, but I haven’t used it as much over the past year or so. I’m not sure why, I just didn’t get around to using it much in nail art. I’m glad this week got me using my textured polishes again!
I’m running a bit behind with this week’s Digital Dozen posts – I’m going to a conference next week and I’ve had a really busy few days preparing for it. The good news is I think I’m ready for the conference, so now I’m going to be playing catchup with some nail art posts for you. For my second ‘inspired by each other’ look, I was inspired by this black and white dotticure done by Druid Nails. Simple but so striking and pretty! (more…)
It’s Day 5 of The Digital Dozen Does Art! I made it – I’m posting later than usual, but it’s still Friday! I only found an artwork that I found inspiring and that I could figure out a good nail art composition for last night, so this one ended up a little more last-minute. I really loved this theme but I’m glad it’s over for now – as the saying goes, variety is the spice of life, and I’m now ready for some simple, quick nail art 🙂 (more…)
Today I’ve moved away from freehand art for the first time this week (don’t worry, there’s more freehand coming later in the week!) to create a pop art look. (more…)
Today’s 31 Day Challenge theme is dots! I decided to do a neon dotticure. I wasn’t sure if this counts as freehand, since I was using a dotting tool – but then again I was using the dotting tool freehand? It’s a grey area, so I just went bright and detailed to make it count! (more…)
I had a rough start to the week when I woke up Monday morning with some pretty bad abdominal pain. I ended up going to the hospital and after being examined by several doctors, having blood tests and a CT scan they confirmed it was appendicitis. If you’ve ever been in the hospital for something like this, you’ll know there is a lot of waiting involved! I was well taken care of though and I wound up in surgery late Monday night. Luckily an appendectomy is pretty much the most routine surgery there is, so I wasn’t too worried – just glad I could get better. I’m back home now and just feeling weak and tired and I can’t concentrate for long.
Fortunately, I had a bunch of posts lined up that I just had to write up – so at least I can blog! Today I have another 5 minute nail art post lined up for you. I covered it all in my first #5minutenailart post, but basically I start with a plain base colour and have just 5 minutes to turn it into art. (more…)
Today’s 31 Day Challenge theme is polka dots. I was busy browsing nail blogs, actually looking for something for the tutorial theme, when I got side tracked and found this pretty dotticure on Lucy’s Stash. It was perfect for today’s theme! (more…)
Today I have some simple but effective nail art to share with you. I’d been itching to do a dotticure, so I decided on a gradient dotticure. Of course, I needed to make it more interesting than that, so I decided to go with textured dots. I did something similar more than a year ago when I first got my hands on the Sally Hansen Sugar Coat polishes. Back then I combined two dot colours on each nail, this time I decided on just one dot colour per nail and here is the result: (more…)
It’s day 30 of the 31 Day Challenge! The second last day! Today’s theme is inspired by a tutorial. There are so many great nail art tutorials out there and I wasn’t sure where to even begin choosing one. In the end I settled on this daisy daze nail art tutorial done by Wondrously Polished. (more…)
Today’s theme for the 31 Day Challenge is polka dots. I decided to try interlocking dots. I have seen many other people doing beautiful versions of this but somehow I was not 100% happy with mine. However, it was a very eye-catching look and I liked it but just felt I didn’t get the interlocking part quite right. (more…)
