Bright and Bold Sugarspun Nails

Painted Fingertips | Sugarspun nail art

Hi everyone!

I have some fun nails to share with you today using a technique I’ve only used twice before: Sugarspun nails! In the past I used this technique to create spiderwebs and in an embarrassing early blog post. Today I have gone with the combination of black and bright colours to create a bold look.  (more…)

HPB Presents: Monochrome Nail Art

Painted Fingertips | Black and white pattern nail art

Hi everyone!

I’ve taken part in the Hobby Polish Bloggers themed linkups a couple of times before and this time the theme is Monochromatic. HPB is a great group for anyone who blogs nails so I highly encourage you to check it out if you’re a blogger! When I did this nail design last week I hadn’t particularly had the theme in mind, but luckily, it works for the theme anyway.  (more…)

40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Your Job

Painted Fingertips | Microscopic Minerals

Hi everyone!

In case you haven’t noticed by now, I’m taking part in a nail art group challenge in the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts group. There are a couple of different ways to take part but I’m doing a themed nail art design every second week. This week’s theme is your job. There were a few different ways I could have gone with this one but I’m really glad I ended up picking the one I did. I have recently started my PhD in geology and so I decided to paint some minerals on my nails! Specifically, I went with pyroxene: (more…)

Gradients, Glitter, and Striping Tape

Painted Fingertips | Glitter, gradients, and tape

Hi everyone!

For today’s nails I started with a plan of doing geometric nails and it morphed until it became more about gradients than about anything geometric. You’ll have to excuse my slightly poorly lit photos – my lighting setup didn’t move with me so I had to make do. You’ll be seeing a few posts like this but it’ll get better! I already got a couple of lamps although I’m struggling to get my hands on good bulbs.  (more…)

40 Great Nail Art Ideas – Hobbies!

Painted Fingertips | I love nail art

Hi everyone!

Despite the more limited time I have for nails now, I’ve decided to join in on a low-key group linkup. Some ladies are taking part every week but I’ve decided to aim for once every two weeks. Every second friday, you’ll be seeing a different nail art theme and not only will I share my own nails, but there’ll be a linkup at the bottom of the page for you to see more ideas on the theme. Today’s theme was hobbies and for me, that could only go one way. I am barely getting time to do my nails, when would I fit in another hobby at the moment? So, I did nail art about nail art!  (more…)

31DC2015 Day 14: Flowers

31dc2014-31-day-challenge-day-14-flowers-painted-fingertips-microbead-flowers-floral

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme in the 31 Day Challenge is flowers. I decided to recreate some poinsettia nail art I’ve had on my Pinterest board for AGES. The original look was by Lacquerstyle. I know poinsettias are associated with Christmas in some areas but they don’t really have that association where I’m from so I decided to do them now anyway. (more…)

31DC2015 Day 10: Gradient!

Painted Fingertips | Water Marble Gradient for #31DC2014 Day 10 - gradient

Hi everyone!

Today’s theme is gradient, and I finally got around to doing some nails I’ve been meaning to do for ages. For this same prompt last year, Sarah from Chalkboard Nails did some fireflies on a sunset gradient. The look was hugely popular and I loved it too! I have finally done my own version. (more…)
