It’s very definitely Autumn here and all of the leaves are changing! The tree outside my window was still green a couple of weeks ago but it’s golden-yellow now and rapidly losing its leaves. Soon it will be bare and winter will be here!
It’s time for another Digital Dozen week! This week’s theme is books. There are so many wonderful options to choose from, although sometimes it can be hard to figure out what nail art to do to relate back to the book. For my first choice for the week, there was actually a pretty obvious nail art option. I decided to do some nail art inspired by Garth Nix’s Old Kingdom series – Sabriel, Lirael, Abhorsen, and the more recent additions Clariel and Goldenhand. These books were near the top of my list for this week, simply because the original trilogy were my favourite books as a teenager, and I still love them.
In the wake of all of that crazy Polish Pickup swatching, I was in the mood for some nail art. Despite the fact that it’s cold midwinter here, I had a craving for some freehand floral nails. I accidentally managed to make these look just a little Christmassy, which was not my intention, but I like them all the same!
I have a fun Fall/Halloween look to share with you today – Candy Corn nails! Even though I’m not a big fan of candy corn – and I’m not sure anyone is – it’s perfect for nail art. It has a distinctive look and fun colours!

I spent most of July TAing a field camp and so I couldn’t do nail art or blog, but I got some posts up for while I’d be away – and then when I got back, I was so busy catching up on everything else that I didn’t get a chance for blogging, until now. I’m excited to get back into the swing of things with this Digital Dozen week! The theme is tropical and I have some fun looks to share with you. To start off with, I have a leafy floral look. It’s Digital Dozen week! This week’s theme is white. At first I didn’t like this theme at all – I was thinking that I’d have to do predominantly white, bridal-looking manicures all week. There’s nothing inherently wrong with that, but those types of looks just aren’t my usual style. Even for my own wedding, I wore turquoise nail polish! That made me dread the idea of an all-white week. That was until I had the idea to do nail art based on things that are white, rather than just making white the dominant colour. This meant that I could use plenty of colours, and I had fun coming up with things that are white! (more…)
