The Digital Dozen’s Throwback Week: Dots and More Dots!

Hi everyone!

It’s the final day of The Digital Dozen’s Throwback week – I’ve made it! I’ve had a very busy week and I wasn’t sure I’d get this last post done on time, but it’s here, and I also really love today’s nail art! In case you’ve missed my other posts this week, I decided to interpret the Throwback theme by recreating past nail art looks done in Digital Dozen theme weeks by other Digital Dozen members. So far this week, I’ve done poison dart frog nails inspired by Manis & Makeovers, LOVE nails inspired by 25 Sweetpeas, a spacey water marble inspired by Copycat Claws, and dragon eye nails inspired by More Nail Polish. Although I’ve liked every one of those looks, today’s is my favourite for the week!

Digital Dozen Birthdays – Drip Marble

Hi, everyone!

Today I have a fun celebratory manicure to share with you. Each month, the Digital Dozen celebrates its members’ birthdays with some nail art. This month, the inspiration for the nail art was selected by our November birthday members Marisa of Polish Those Nails and Serene of Copycat Claws. This month’s inspiration picture reminded me of the effects created by the drip marble technique, so I decided to try one.

40 Great Nail Art Ideas: Your Job

Hi everyone!

In case you haven’t noticed by now, I’m taking part in a nail art group challenge in the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts group. There are a couple of different ways to take part but I’m doing a themed nail art design every second week. This week’s theme is your job. There were a few different ways I could have gone with this one but I’m really glad I ended up picking the one I did. I have recently started my PhD in geology and so I decided to paint some minerals on my nails! Specifically, I went with pyroxene:PyroxeneThis picture of pyroxene comes from this website and if you’re interested in knowing more about the mineral, there is plenty of information about it there too!

You might be wondering why I would choose this ‘boring’, dark-coloured mineral. Well, there is a method to my madness! Sometimes as a geologist you get to see amazing things. Sometimes those things are out in a field site in the middle of nowhere, and sometimes they’re in a lab at the other end of your microscope. This is how pyroxene looks under a microscope:pyroxene under microscope(Image from this site). Isn’t that just amazing? Something that looked grey before is just bursting with colour. So, I did microscopic pyroxene nail art.

Water Marble Wednesday: Green, blue and purple

Hi everyone!

It’s Water Marble Wednesday! For today’s marble I had a totally different marble pattern in mind, but I just couldn’t get it to work. After a while I tried this instead and I still like the outcome! Painted Fingertips | Green, blue and purple water marble (more…)
