It’s Digital Dozen week! This week’s theme is Futuristic and I am so excited for it! I think this might be the first time I have actually finished all five looks ahead of time – I just had so many fun ideas for this theme! For the first one, I have done some nail art inspired by one of my favourite series – Star Trek.
It’s the final day of The Digital Dozen’s Throwback week – I’ve made it! I’ve had a very busy week and I wasn’t sure I’d get this last post done on time, but it’s here, and I also really love today’s nail art! In case you’ve missed my other posts this week, I decided to interpret the Throwback theme by recreating past nail art looks done in Digital Dozen theme weeks by other Digital Dozen members. So far this week, I’ve done poison dart frog nails inspired by Manis & Makeovers, LOVE nails inspired by 25 Sweetpeas, a spacey water marble inspired by Copycat Claws, and dragon eye nails inspired by More Nail Polish. Although I’ve liked every one of those looks, today’s is my favourite for the week!
Today I have a fun celebratory manicure to share with you. Each month, the Digital Dozen celebrates its members’ birthdays with some nail art. This month, the inspiration for the nail art was selected by our November birthday members Marisa of Polish Those Nails and Serene of Copycat Claws. This month’s inspiration picture reminded me of the effects created by the drip marble technique, so I decided to try one.
It’s time for another quick 5 minute nail art look! If you aren’t familiar with this series, you can go check out my first #5minutenailart post for an explanation, but the basic idea is that I’ll start with a plain, single-colour manicure as a base, and then have just 5 minutes to turn it into nail art.
I had a rough start to the week when I woke up Monday morning with some pretty bad abdominal pain. I ended up going to the hospital and after being examined by several doctors, having blood tests and a CT scan they confirmed it was appendicitis. If you’ve ever been in the hospital for something like this, you’ll know there is a lot of waiting involved! I was well taken care of though and I wound up in surgery late Monday night. Luckily an appendectomy is pretty much the most routine surgery there is, so I wasn’t too worried – just glad I could get better. I’m back home now and just feeling weak and tired and I can’t concentrate for long.
Fortunately, I had a bunch of posts lined up that I just had to write up – so at least I can blog! Today I have another 5 minute nail art post lined up for you. I covered it all in my first #5minutenailart post, but basically I start with a plain base colour and have just 5 minutes to turn it into art.
I decided to try a new-to-me technique today that I’ve seen around in a few places. I made some triangular nail polish decals in different shades of blue and put them together to get some fun geometric-looking nail art.
I have some fun nails to share with you today using a technique I’ve only used twice before: Sugarspun nails! In the past I used this technique to create spiderwebs and in an embarrassing early blog post. Today I have gone with the combination of black and bright colours to create a bold look.
Winter is officially here and with it has come the snow! It snowed properly for the first time on Thanksgiving. It was very exciting for me as it’s the first time I’ve seen proper snow – everything looks magical and the snow is a lot of fun. Luckily I had some snowflake nails ready to show you! I did these nails almost 2 weeks ago already, ready for when the snow came.
