#5minutenailart – Blue Hearts

Hi everyone!

It’s time for another #5minutenailart! Are you excited? If you don’t know what this is all about, go take a look at my first post in the series, but the basic premise is that I start with a base of a single colour, your standard manicure, then I have just 5 minutes to turn it into some fun nail art! Painted Fingertips | #5minutenailart - red with blue hearts

Snowflake Nail Art (and How I Survived an Attack!)

Hi everyone!

Winter is officially here and with it has come the snow! It snowed properly for the first time on Thanksgiving. It was very exciting for me as it’s the first time I’ve seen proper snow – everything looks magical and the snow is a lot of fun. Luckily I had some snowflake nails ready to show you! I did these nails almost 2 weeks ago already, ready for when the snow came. Painted Fingertips | Freehand snowflake nail art

40 Great Nail Art Ideas – Hobbies!

Hi everyone!

Despite the more limited time I have for nails now, I’ve decided to join in on a low-key group linkup. Some ladies are taking part every week but I’ve decided to aim for once every two weeks. Every second friday, you’ll be seeing a different nail art theme and not only will I share my own nails, but there’ll be a linkup at the bottom of the page for you to see more ideas on the theme. Today’s theme was hobbies and for me, that could only go one way. I am barely getting time to do my nails, when would I fit in another hobby at the moment? So, I did nail art about nail art! Painted Fingertips | I love nail art

Gradient for the 31 Day Challenge AND Water Marble Wednesday

Hi everyone!

Today I have once again managed to combine the #31DC2014 prompt with my own series, Water Marble Wednesday. So far in the series I’ve done a brightly coloured marble and a cute bee water marble. Today, I used my water marble to create a gradient. Painted Fingertips | Water Marble Gradient for #31DC2014 Day 10 - gradient (more…)

31 Day Challenge – Day 28: Inspired by a flag

Hi guys!

Today’s nails are inspired by my home country, South Africa’s flag. We have a really great flag with bright and beautiful colours 🙂

flag1I created the flag itself on my thumb (shown upside down here, but that’s just because it’s easier to photograph this way, and I wanted to have the triangle part at the tip of my nail!) and just used the colours on all my other fingers.

31 Day Challenge – Day 23: Inspired by a movie

Hi everyone!

Today I tried some of the most complex nail art I’ve ever done: Finding Nemo nails! They’ve been done before plenty of times, but I knew I wanted to do an animation for my movie-inspired nails, and Finding Nemo was one of my favourite animations ever. Before I show you the pictures, I want you to focus very carefully: Look at my thumb, index finger, middle finger, CLOSE YOUR EYES FOR A MILLISECOND, and look at my pinkie. Seriously, don’t even THINK about looking at my trainwreck of a ring finger! Sadly I didn’t have time to try redo it!

31 Day Challenge – Day 12: Stripes

Hello ladies!

Today’s challenge theme is stripes, and I decided to try something for the first time: A striped gradient.

stripes4I used six different blues for my gradient and I loved that I could include glitter polishes 🙂 I didn’t manage to get the stripes even on each nail, but I loved the final look nonetheless. Excuse the ding on my index finger, I didn’t even notice I’d bumped it until I was taking photos!
